| The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) established in 1993 is mandated to promote and protect the enjoyment and full realization, by all people, of all rights established in the Charter of the United Nations and in international human rights, laws and treaties. The Office leads efforts to intergrate a human rights approach in all work carried out by United Nations agencies. | | The first OHCHR Pacific initiative was a two year project in the Solomon Islands in 2002. In August 2005, the Regional Office for the Pacific was opened in Suva, Fiji and in 2006 a sub regional office for the Pacific was opened in the Solomon Islands.
